AREA EVENTS BEAVERS BEND NATURE CENTER NATURE CENTER HOURS DAILY 10 am - 4 pm Please check in at the Nature Center or Forest Heritage Center BEFORE tackling the trails! Please remember: Take only pictures & memories; Leave only footprints. DESCRIPTION OF THE NATURE CENTER ACTIVITIES NATURE CRAFTS - Join us for an easy to make craft for everyone - make your own souvenir of your visit to Beavers Bend! We'll make something different both days. BEADY CRITTER CRAFTS - These are a little more complicated than Nature Crafts; we recommend ages 6 and up. Come on by and join us! NATURE WALK - Meet at the Nature Center and join us for a relatively easy walk along Beaver Creek, looking for signs of Spring. Be sure to dress for the weather. BIRD WALK - Bring your binoculars and join us as we look for some signs of bird life near the Nature Center. Our best chances are the bird feeders (yeah, we cheat a little!) and along the river. CRITTERS WE LOVE TO HATE! - Ever wanted to learn more about animals like snakes and alligators - maybe even a spider or two? Now is your chance! Stop by the Nature Center for a brief discussion on some animals that we love to hate. HAWK & OWL FEEDING - The Beavers Bend Nature Center has both state and federal permits that allow us to take care of protected birds. Learn more about the hawks and owls that are housed in the flight cages near the Center. These birds are predators - accustomed to hunting other animals for their meal. They are fed six days a week as part of an ongoing educational program. We feed them animals that have been donated to the Nature Center for this purpose. BIRDS OF PREY - The resident hawks and owls in the Nature Center flight cages cannot survive in the wild, so we use them as part of our educational programs, giving our visitors a close-up look at some of the birds most only see at a distance, if at all. Stop by and learn more about these magnificent birds of prey. CAMPFIRE PROGRAM - Join us at the campfire ring, below the Nature Center, near the Amphitheater, for some history, maybe some legends or some games, and lots of marshmallows to roast! We have the fire, the stories, the marshmallows, and even the sticks to roast the 'mallows on - - all we are missing is you! HAYRIDE - Join the wagonmaster at the Beavers Bend Depot and Riding Stables for a guided tour of Beavers Bend. COST: $6.00 for 12 and under (& over 65); $8.00 for those between 13 & 65.
